 | Will I be
able to choose my job or must I accept anything that is offered?
 |
Your
Counselor will closely match your abilities, your skills and interests with the
local labor market. Your Counselor
will guide you, but you will always be the one who chooses your job. |
|
 |
I
want training. Can I get it?
 |
Training
IS a benefit offered through this program.
We must first follow the steps of this program set by the Department of
Labor, State of Hawaii. Training is
an option if you are not able to find work at or near your previous wage. |
|
 |
How
long will vocational rehabilitation services last?
 |
The length
of this program varies. If you are
able to return to your employer, this program will be shorter.
If you are not able to return to work with your employer and you require
training, this program could be much longer.
Your Counselor must answer this question given your specific case.
You will work very closely with your Counselor to plan your return to
work. |
|
 |
Will
I continue to receive my workers' compensation benefits?
 |
Yes.
Your benefits will not be interrupted.
If you earn income while in this program, you may be entitled to a
partial disability payment. |
|
 |
I
am still under the doctor’s care. Am I ready for vocational
rehabilitation services?
 |
Yes, you
need not be "stable" or "well" to begin participating with
vocational rehabilitation services. There
are many services that can be provided to you (such as adjustment and vocational
counseling and testing) before you are ready to return to work.
Early involvement will help you fully explore your alternatives. |
|
 |
How
do I get started, what do I do?
 |
You can
contact any certified Counselor on the Department of Labor’s list. Just call and make an appointment.
More
detailed information will be given to you and your questions will be answered. |
